Fighting for New Jersey
Nellie Pou is always fighting for New Jersey families — see her priorities below:
Lowering Costs
New Jersey families are faced with higher costs, and leaders in Washington are failing to act. We have an affordability crisis, and Nellie is tackling it head-on — fighting to bring down the costs of housing, groceries, child care, and more for working families. Nellie demanded that leaders in Congress take action to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits in order to lower health care costs for New Jersey families.
Protecting Healthcare
In the greatest country on earth, you shouldn’t fear going bankrupt over a medical emergency. That means ensuring that healthcare isn’t out of reach for New Jersey families. Nellie is fighting to expand access to healthcare, lower prescription drug costs, and protect the Affordable Care Act, which Republicans are attempting to gut yet again. Nellie led an amendment to protect Medicaid coverage for mothers and working families – but MAGA Republicans in Congress blocked her effort.
Keeping Communities Safe
Keeping our communities safe means supporting first responders and police. Nobody should feel unsafe in their neighborhoods and streets, and as a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, Nellie is fighting to increase funding for police departments and programs that bolster community safety and trust. And she is a key leader on the task force working to ensure the FIFA World Cup, happening right here in our community, is safe and secure.
Veterans Benefits
Those who proudly serve our country in uniform should be better cared for when they return home. Nellie is fighting to protect the VA and benefits. Our country’s best deserve the best from their country.
